About Melissa

My path into this work began early and was shaped by my own experiences with trauma and disordered eating. Those challenges inspired me to pursue psychology and ultimately earn a master’s degree in community counseling.

I completed my clinical training at The Meadows, where I later worked as a primary therapist and received extensive training in Pia Mellody’s Model of Developmental Immaturity. I went on to specialize in outpatient eating disorder treatment at A New Beginning before opening my private practice in Flagstaff, focused on trauma recovery and eating disorder healing.

In addition to EMDR training, I’ve worked with a variety of therapeutic approaches for treating anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating. I regularly pursue advanced education in trauma-informed care, attachment, complex PTSD, and eating disorder treatment as part of my commitment to lifelong learning and providing thoughtful, effective care.

I’m currently completing advanced clinical training in the Relationship Recovery Process (RRP) for childhood trauma, developed by Amanda Curtin and Patrick Teahan.

At the heart of my work is the belief that healing happens through connection, self-understanding, and compassionate support.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my husband, our two children, and our dog. I feel most grounded when I’m outdoors hiking or walking, practicing yoga, reading, or relaxing with a good show at the end of the day.
