About Me
Hi, I’m Melissa. I’m a licensed professional counselor located in Flagstaff, Arizona.
My path into this work started early, shaped by my own personal experiences with trauma and disordered eating. Those challenges inspired me to study psychology and earn a master’s degree in community counseling. I trained at The Meadows in Wickenburg, Arizona, later working as a primary therapist and gaining extensive instruction in Pia Mellody’s Model of Developmental Immaturity.
I went on to specialize in outpatient eating disorder treatment at A New Beginning in Scottsdale, AZ. After moving to Flagstaff, I opened a private practice focused on trauma and eating disorder recovery.
In addition to EMDR training, I’ve worked with a variety of modalities for treating anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating. I regularly pursue advanced training in trauma‑informed care, attachment, and eating disorder treatment. Presently, I’m completing advanced clinical training in the Relationship Recovery Process (RRP) for childhood trauma, developed by Amanda Curtin and Patrick Teahan.
My ongoing education centers on trauma‑based modalities, complex post-traumatic stress, and the link between trauma and disordered eating, reflecting my commitment to lifelong learning.
Outside of work, I love traveling and spending time with my husband, our two kids, and our dog. I’m happiest walking or hiking outdoors, practicing yoga, reading, or winding down with a good show in the evening.
